Bedford High School teaches students in Grades 9-12. We are also home to the Bedford Virtual Academy.

Messages and Personal Deliveries

The school is unable to deliver messages to students during the school day, except in the case of an emergency.

​Please bring all items to the main office. If the student is expecting a delivery, then the student may check in the main office to see if the expected item has arrived.

Responsibilities of Bedford High School Students

Bedford High School students are expected to be aware of and accept individual responsibilities in the following areas:

* Respect the inherent human dignity, worth, and rights of every other individual.
* Attend school daily and be prepared and on time to all classes.
* Become actively involved in one's education, understanding of others, and preparation for adult life.
* Express opinions and ideas in a respectful manner so as not to offend or slander others.
* Dress so as not to interrupt or interfere with the educational process.
* Be aware of and follow all rules and regulations regarding student behavior and conduct.
* Study diligently and strive for the best possible level of academic achievement.
* Assist in the maintenance and improvement of the school environment by preserving school property and exercising the utmost care while using school facilities.
* Take an active part in the improvement of the school by becoming involved in or supporting student government.

School Board Policy on Drug-Free Schools

In accordance with Federal Law, the Board of Education prohibits the use, possession, concealment, or distribution of drugs by students on school grounds, in school or school approved vehicles, or at any school related event. Drugs include any alcoholic beverage, anabolic steroid, dangerous controlled substance as defined by State statute, or substance that could be considered a "look-a-like" controlled substance. Compliance with this policy is mandatory for all students. Any student who violates this policy will be subject to disciplinary action, in accordance with due process and as specified in the student handbook, up to and including expulsion from school. When required by State law, the District will also notify law enforcement officials.

The District is concerned about any student who is a victim of alcohol or drug abuse and will facilitate the process by which s/he receives help through programs and services available in the community. Students and their parents should contact the school principal, counseling office, or student assistance program whenever such help is needed.

Grading System

Student work is graded according to the following system:

A = 93 - 100% = 4.0 points
A- = 90 - 92% = 3.7 points
B+ = 87 - 89% = 3.3 points
B = 83 - 86% = 3.0 points
B- = 80 - 82% = 2.7 points
C+ = 77 - 79% = 2.3 points
C = 73 - 76% = 2.0 points
C- = 70 - 72% = 1.7 points
D+ = 67 - 69% = 1.3 points
D = 63 - 66% = 1.0 points
D- = 60 - 62% = 0.7 points
F = 0 - 59% = 0.0 points

Progress Reports

Student progress reports will be available to parents or guardians online each term. Parents or guardians are encouraged to review this progress with the student. The counselors will send letters at the end of each term to those juniors and seniors whose graduation date has been jeopardized by failing grades or incomplete course work.

A = 4 Represent excellent work
B = 3 Represent good work
C = 2 Represent average work
D = 1 Represent poor work
F = 0 Represent failure

I......Indicates incomplete work that the student must make up within the first two weeks of the new quarter or receive an "F". If there are extenuating circumstances, students should confer with their teacher or the building principal.

W....Indicates that the student has chosen to withdraw from the course and will not receive a grade for work done prior to dropping the course.

P.....Indicates that a student has achieved to the best of his or her ability and that credit has been awarded for this class.

S.....Indicates satisfactory work has been completed.

U.....Indicates satisfactory work has not been completed.

Bedford Virtual Academy

Bedford Virtual Academy (BVA) logoThe Bedford Virtual Academy (BVA) is a FREE public education alternative to the traditional classroom environment. All classes offered through the BVA fulfill the Michigan Merit Curriculum and Bedford Public Schools graduation requirements. Students within the BVA can either take all classes online through engaging platforms or a single class to explore the world of online learning. In addition to online coursework, students are offered regular face-to-face interactions with expert, Bedford teachers and peers.​
