Mrs. Steinman, a 1st grade teacher at Douglas Road Elementary School, received some surprise visitors recently. Fayth Atkins and her camera crew from BCSN/BCAN stopped by her classroom to let her know she was selected as their March Classroom Hero and presented her with a $300 check!

The nomination, submitted by a parent, explained why Mrs. Steinman is a hero in her classroom. A few highlights from that nomination: “She has a joy for teaching and will explore every option to help her students learn. She genuinely loves every one of her students. Wendy teaches her students about kindness and being thoughtful to others. Recently her students mailed valentine's to 2 individuals they selected. Each week her students as part of their writing will write sweet letters to a special student of the week. Everyone in her classroom is celebrated. There is so much love and effort put into craft projects. This Christmas my daughter made the most beautiful gift for us in class.”

“She is very deserving of this award!!!” adds principal, Mrs. Johnson.
