DRE's Got Talent - Coming Soon

Dear Parents & Guardians of Douglas Road Elementary Students, We are proud to announce that the Douglas Road talent show, “DRE’s Got Talent!” is back!!! All 2nd-5th grade students of Douglas Road Elementary are welcome to participate in this event. Students can participate individually or with a group (limit five people per group). Student groups are not limited to having students from only their grade level though (students may be in groups with students from other grades, 2nd-5th only). Students are only allowed to participate in one act. Each act is limited to three minutes or less of performance time (if singing a song, Mr. Dinwoody can help adjust your song). This event will take place during 2nd-5th grade special’s times. Performance dates for the talent show are: 2nd Grade—May 13th (10:00am) 3rd Grade—May 14th (2:30pm) 4th Grade—May 15th (9:15am) 5th Grade—May 16th (1:45pm) Students can sing a song, perform a dance routine, tell jokes, create a magic act, develop a skit, play an instrument, or demonstrate their own particular talent in their very own unique way. Creativity is a must! If you have an idea that was not listed, talk with Mr. Dinwoody and see if your idea would work for a talent show act. All acts must be three minutes or less. Please be advised that lip-syncing acts are not allowed. Students will audition during music class. Each student auditioning for the talent show is required to provide a permission slip. There will be two rehearsals organized for acts to familiarize themselves with the stage and order of performances. Please complete the following information on the attached form by Monday, May 3rd, 2024, no exceptions. Students can have this form on the day they audition, but no later than Monday, May 3rd. Once all auditions have occurred and acts have been selected, students and parents will be notified by email, and the talent show list will be posted in the Douglas Road main office and on the music room door. The rehearsals for “DRE’s Got Talent” will be during special’s times the week of May 9th. We are really looking forward to seeing all of the diverse talent that the students of Douglas Road Elementary have to offer.

New signs being installedNEW SIGNAGE AROUND THE DISTRICT

You may notice some new signs being installed around our district. These new signs are meant to reinforce to district visitors that our grounds and facilities are closed to the general public when school is in session. This is not a new policy (9150 - SCHOOL VISITORS), however, we are stepping up our enforcement of these rules to help ensure the safety of students and staff. Anyone that has school related business during published school hours, is welcome to enter through each building's main entrance and check in as a visitor.

This same School Visitor Policy also addresses animals on our school grounds: “Except as set forth in District policy, canines brought on the premises by law enforcement personnel for law enforcement purposes, or in the case of "service animals" required for use by a person with a disability, no other animals may be on school premises at any time.”
