SAFETY VEHICLE DAY!

JRE Safety Vehicles

The purpose of this event is to provide a safe atmosphere for the 2nd-grade elementary students to get up and close to have their curiosities answered about all the safety apparatus. The following agencies participated in this event and answered questions about careers in public safety and other fields: Bedford Fire Department, Consuimer Energy, Michigan State Police, Monroe County Road Commission, Monroe County Sheriff's Office, Dundee Police Department, Stevens Disposal, Monroe Community Ambulance, and the US Coast Guard. Thank you, Deputy John Bills, for organizing this event for our 2nd-graders!

Summer Reading Reward Challenge

We are excited to have our students receive a "Summer Reading Reward" challenge again this year. Each student will receive a book, notebook, and pencil to keep their skill sharp over summer break. These will be handed out prior to the last day of school. Students completing this challenge will receive an extra recess the first week of school.

Third Grade Families - Save the Date

Our 2024-2025 fourth grade students will have the opportunity to take an educational bus trip to Lansing again next year. The date for this field trip is Wednesday, November 13, 2024. The tentative departure time on this day can be as early as 6:30 a.m. We will be given a time closer to the trip. Students will return to Jackman Road Elementary at approximately 6:00 p.m. You will need to make arrangements to pick your student up at this time.

THE TOUR INCLUDES

· Deluxe Motor Coach transportation

· Tour of the Michigan Capitol Building

· Admission to the Michigan Historical Museum

· Admission to Impression 5 Science Center with 1 workshop per student

· Lunch while in Lansing

· All taxes and gratuities included for all above inclusions

· 24-Hour Emergency number provided to all participants on tour (wristband)

The cost of the above trip per person is $119.00. The JRE PTO has donated $19.00 per student to help defray the cost of this educational experience. This will make the price per student $100.00. We will work on getting our chaperones the first thing in the fall. We hope you can join us!

New signs being installedNEW SIGNAGE AROUND THE DISTRICT

You may notice some new signs being installed around our district. These new signs are meant to reinforce to district visitors that our grounds and facilities are closed to the general public when school is in session. This is not a new policy (9150 - SCHOOL VISITORS), however, we are stepping up our enforcement of these rules to help ensure the safety of students and staff. Anyone that has school related business during published school hours, is welcome to enter through each building's main entrance and check in as a visitor.

This same School Visitor Policy also addresses animals on our school grounds: “Except as set forth in District policy, canines brought on the premises by law enforcement personnel for law enforcement purposes, or in the case of "service animals" required for use by a person with a disability, no other animals may be on school premises at any time.”
