Dear BPS Staff, Parents and Community:

The district recently announced that current Monroe Road Elementary Principal, Alex Chapman, would be transitioning to a new role within the district as the Executive Director of Human Resources and Labor Relations. After this announcement, the district immediately began a comprehensive search and selection process that began with asking all MRE stakeholders to complete a brief survey regarding the traits that the next MRE Principal should possess. Utilizing this survey information, district leaders selected three incredibly qualified candidates to interview for the position. An interview team consisting of district and building administrators, MRE staff members, and parents then completed the principal interviews and helped make final recommendations. Finally, I held an extended interview with the top candidate.

Ms. Kline

After the completion of the comprehensive selection process outlined above, one candidate rose to the top. Therefore, it is with great pleasure that I can introduce Ms. Deanna Kline as the next Principal of Monroe Road Elementary. Ms. Kline is currently serving as the Assistant Principal of Douglas Road Elementary. Her experience as a classroom teacher, building administrator, and a current MRE parent will help to make a smooth transition into this new role. Having worked closely with Ms. Kline in her current role, I am confident that the MRE community will find a student focused, strong communicator, and visible leader in Ms. Kline – traits highly desired by the MRE stakeholders who completed the principal traits survey.

Ms. Kline’s acceptance of this new role as MRE Principal leaves a vacancy at DRE for the assistant principal position. To fill this newly vacant role, district administration has worked with current MRE Assistant Principal, Dr. Amy Kochendoerfer, who will be transferring from her current position into this role at Douglas Road Elementary. Dr. Kochendoerfer’s experience and success as an outstanding teacher and leader will be great additions to the DRE leadership team. The assistant principal position at MRE will be posted immediately and filled using a similar process to that of the principal opening.

I ask that you all join me in extending a huge congratulations to Ms. Kline as we welcome her to MRE. I can’t wait to watch her carry on the strong traditions that make Monroe Road Elementary a great place to learn!

Respectfully,

Dr. Carl Shultz
