This February, the cast and crew look forward to putting on "The Importance of Being Earnest." Friendship and rivalry intersect in what is perhaps Oscar Wilde’s most enduring play. The Importance of Being Earnest critiques high society as the ridiculous lives of its aristocratic characters disrupt the landscape of Victorian England. Join the serving class as witnesses to the antics of Jack and Algernon, Gwendoline and Cecily, and Lady Bracknell. Cases of mistaken identity put Jack and Algernon in side-splitting peril, endangering their friendship and the devotions of their love interests, Gwendoline and Cecily. The more reasoned voices of Miss Prism and Dr. Chasuble get caught up in drama and absurdity while the truth (in the form of Lady Bracknell) makes its way to meet them all in the English countryside. The disorder that follows from the deception, rivalry, drama, and farce reveals just how important it is to be Earnest.

However, this production will not be performed in front of a live audience. This will be a virtual production for the cast and crew. Tickets to view the live performance can be purchased online.

The resources needed to bring our shows to the stage are immeasurable. The commitment of our volunteers and dedication of our staff and students keep the theatre alive. However, these productions would not be possible without the generous financial support they receive from the community they entertain. Due to the unprecedented times we live in, the students won’t have the reward of a live audience sharing their laughter this year, but you can still contribute to the magic of this and future productions with a donation. They appreciate your support and hope you enjoy the show.
