BVA Expectations

Bedford Virtual Academy Expectations

  • Attend orientation and return all required documents to confirm acceptance into BVA.
  • Abide by all Bedford High School rules and expectations per the student handbook.
  • Attend school on count day which is Wed., Oct. 2 and/or Wed., Feb. 12 from 7:30 AM - 2:30 PM.
  • Maintain weekly two-way communication with Mrs. Taylor (email, phone, or in person) regarding content within classes.
  • Students driving to school must purchase a parking pass and park in designated student parking lot.
  • Fulfill weekly attendance requirement as communicated by school staff.
  • Attend school on designated state/district assessment dates.
  • Be in the BVA at the time the tardy bell is ringing if attending school over multiple hours. School policy will be enforced regarding tardies.
  • All absences must be called into the BHS Attendance Office at 734-850-6108. Students must also send an email to Mrs. Taylor and copying the parent.
  • Keep and store all personal devices out of sight during class hours.
    • Acceptable times to use personal devices:
      • Before 7:30 AM and after 2:30 PM.
      • During homeroom and lunch per the school policy.
    • NOTE: BVA staff reserves the right to refer any student to BHS administrators for disciplinary action at any time.
  • Attend lunch in the cafeteria during assigned time in the designated area.
  • Prepare grade check sheet and attend monthly progress meetings throughout the semester with a parent/guardian and Mrs. Taylor.
  • Be prepared to present their student ID and sign in/out on the notebook log upon entering and exiting the high school during school hours.
  • Greet the BVA staff upon entering/leaving the BVA room.
  • Exit the building within 5 minutes of the leaving the BVA room.
  • Sign in/out on the BVA clipboard as well as complete "Check In/Out" google forms to log hours at BHS.
  • Communicate needs with BVA staff as well as implement suggested strategies by BVA staff.
  • Email requests to see all Bedford staff members (counselor, AP, case manager, etc.) during class times.
  • Use the content/links provided within the platform as a primary source for completing coursework for classes.
  • Submit original work. (See Honor Code for additional information regarding Plagiarism.)
  • Wear headphones only to listen to educational videos and lectures.
  • Be prepared to provide notes upon request from BVA staff.
  • Complete coursework by maintaining pacing within platform.
  • Turn in all handwritten summary sheets after completed tests and/or exams.
  • Complete all tests and exams on school devices (Chromebook/Chromebox).
  • Take all pretests, tests, and semester exams under the supervision of a Bedford staff member unless signed Honor Code indicates otherwise.
  • Sit in designated seat assigned by BVA staff.
  • Only use their assigned device for school purposes.
  • Complete google forms throughout semester to provide feedback regarding the BVA.
  • Sign up and utilize required apps to increase opportunity for success within the BVA.
  • Take care of the BVA learning environment.
